The Kritik Summer '24 release notes detail the latest updates and enhancements designed to improve the user experience and functionality of the Kritik platform.
Grading Improvements:
Late Submission Penalty: Allows instructors to add a late penalty to students who submit a creation after the deadline.
Starting Score: Instructors can now set a minimum starting score for Level 1 of any rubric. This will set the Creation Score range to start at a specific value. For example, if the minimum is set to 60%, then criteria grades will be scaled from 60-100% from Level 1 onward. Note that Level 0 will always remain on each rubric as well, indicating a score of 0% for any particular criterion.
Evaluation Notes in Calibration Activities: Instructors can add additional evaluation notes when they grade creations in a calibration activity. This allows them to provide students with more context to understand how they graded the creations.
Scheduling Improvements:
Move activity to next stage: Allows instructors to move an activity to the next stage on demand.
Revert an Activity Stage: Allows instructors to move an activity back to a previous stage, enabling additional submissions or edits from students.
Kritik AI Hub:
AI-Generated Rubrics: Instructors can create detailed rubrics using AI, streamlining the process of assessment criteria generation.
AI-Generated Activities: Instructors can create AI-Generated activities which include objectives, instructions, and a custom rubric for instructors to edit and use as they wish. Any activity type can be created based on the course name and/or syllabus.
AI-Generated Bulk Content Check: Instructors can scan all submissions in an activity for AI-generated content by selecting "Export AI-Content Report" from the "Actions" menu, which emails a spreadsheet with AI content probabilities for each submission; this feature is currently gated but can be enabled upon request.
User Experience Improvements:
Attachment Preview: Kritik users can preview file submissions directly within the platform without needing to download the attachments.
Automatic Roster Sync: Roster sync automatically runs once a course has successfully connected to the LMS.
Course Duplication: Instructors can duplicate any existing course in Kritik by selecting the three dots in the course card and then selecting duplicate. Duplicated courses by default copy all existing activities.
Course Term: Allows instructors to add a course term in their course details.
Group Sync for Canvas: Allows instructors to automatically synchronize and manage student groups between Canvas and Kritik for seamless integration
Managing Late Evaluations: Instructors can configure settings for activities that allow students to submit late evaluations independently and manage these submissions by setting policies for automatic acceptance, requiring manual approval, and notifying students of the decision.
Re-enrolling students: Allows instructors to re-enrol students after removing them from a course.
Remove Students from Live Presentations: Instructors can remove students from a scheduled live presentation, which also deletes any submitted content, ensuring the presentation lineup remains current and relevant for participants who are present.
Spotlight: Instructors have the ability to spotlight creations and evaluations in all activity types.
Teach-A-Peer Activities: Intro level courses (with "intro" or "principles" in the title or course codes between 100-199) now include "Teach-a-peer" activities in AI-generated suggestions, which are beneficial for instructors of larger courses where such activities are well-suited.
View as Student: Instructors can experience a course from a student’s perspective by selecting an option to enter a read-only mode that mirrors the exact view of a specific student within that course. This can be accessed from the course roster and an activity’s student list.
