Kritik Summer 2026 Release Notes

A summary of the newest features, improvements, and changes rolled out across the Kritik platform this Summer 2026.

Written by Support Team

AI Assistant Improvements

New "Quick tips for better prompting" section now appears above the AI Assistant.

  • Designed to help students craft stronger, more effective AI prompts directly within their activity.

  • Encourages prompt literacy and supports more meaningful interactions with the AI Assistant.

For more guidance, check out our help article on How to Write Better Prompts in the AI Assistant.

Late Submissions Update for Instructors

We've updated the in-app notification banner copy for accepted late submissions in Kritik.

  • Previously, the banner read: "Late creation accepted 'X' days late. This submission is counted as 'X' days late, and a daily penalty has been applied."

  • The wording was inaccurate, as no penalty is actually applied until the first evaluation is submitted.

  • This has now been updated to accurately reflect when the daily penalty is triggered.

For more guidance, check out our Late Submissions help article.

Activity Creation Improvements

The activity creation process has been streamlined for a cleaner, more intuitive instructor experience.

  • Instructors can now set up activity details, configure AI policies, build or import rubrics, and schedule each stage all from one seamless workflow.

  • Instructors are now guided step-by-step, making it easier to launch peer assessment activities without missing any key settings along the way.

For a more detailed walkthrough, check out our dedicated Individual Activity help article.

Returning Student Experience Improvements

We've launched an improved login experience for returning students who have used Kritik in the past.

  • Returning users will now see a message like "Welcome back, (Name)", confirming immediately that an account already exists.

  • The "Don't have an account? Sign up" option has been removed for returning students, preventing them from accidentally creating duplicate accounts.

  • Returning students are now guided directly toward logging in or resetting their password.

VisibleAI Authorship within Individual Peer Assessment Activities

VisibleAI's Authorship Tracking is now built directly into Kritik, giving instructors deeper insight into how their students are composing their work, no more switching between platforms.

  • When enabled, students compose their submissions using the VisibleAI editor, with AI usage, pasted content, time spent, and Authenticity Score tracked behind the scenes.

  • Instructors can set thresholds for allowed AI-generated and pasted content, or disable each entirely depending on their assignment requirements.

  • Students are guided through a short reflection on their AI use within 3 hours of the submission deadline, with the option to include a custom open-ended reflection question.

For more details, check out our help article on Setting Up Authorship Tracking within Kritik.

Score Adjustment Improvements

The Score Adjustment feature in the Grading stage now supports both score increases and decreases, giving instructors more flexibility when adjusting student creation scores.

  • Previously, instructors could only apply a penalty (reduce the score) using this feature.

  • Now, instructors can also boost scores when needed, making it easier to recognize exceptional work or correct grading discrepancies, all without affecting the evaluators' evaluation scores or grading power.

New 'Import Rubric' Feature Added

Instructors can now import an existing rubric directly into Kritik by uploading a file, no more rebuilding rubrics from scratch.

  • Upload a rubric file and Kritik's AI will automatically read the content and build it directly into your activity.

  • Supported file types: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, Images, and CSV.

  • Once imported, the rubric is fully editable, allowing instructors to make any final adjustments before saving.

  • For more details, check out our help article on Importing a Rubric.

Individual Authorship Tracking Activities

Individual Authorship Tracking Activities are now available directly within Kritik for all instructors!

  • Designed for assignments where peer assessment isn't needed, students simply submit their work individually with authorship tracking, AI insights, and citation features built into the VisibleAI editor.

  • The activity includes only the Create stage, no Evaluate or Feedback stages, making it perfect for journal entries, reflection papers, take-home assignments, lab reports, and any other individual writing tasks.

  • Instructors can set their own AI policies, configure self-reflection options, and grade submissions directly within Kritik, all in one streamlined workflow.
