This article breaks down the steps for students to get started with their Code Authorship Tracking Activities.

Written by Support Team

Before getting started you need to:

  1. Ensure you have VS code downloaded and installed on your computer. Find the latest version of VS code download here.

  2. Enroll into your Kritik course. To learn how to enroll into a Kritik course, please click here.

Step 1: Click on the Code Authorship Tracking activity

Once you have enrolled into your Kritik course, navigate to the Coding Authorship Activity where you will find your Launch Code. Please copy this Launch Code or save it as you will need to sign in to the VS code extension.

Step 2: Find the Kritik VS Code Extension

Under “View”, select “Extensions”

Search for the Kritik extension by typing “Kritik”

Click “Install” and then click “Trust Publisher and Install” to install the extension.

Step 3: Sign in to the Kritik VS Code Extension

Add your school email address and the access code that you copied from the Kritik Coding Authorship Activity

Step 4: Download the resource files from the Kritik Coding Authorship Assignment. Upload the files to VS Code

In Kritik, navigate to the Coding Authorship Tracking activity, and in the Activity Details, download the attached resources.

Step 5: Complete the assignment. Use the AI Assistant if you need help.

Complete the assignment using VS Code. Please note the Authenticity Insights at the top of the extension. The insights are per file. The authenticity score is calculated for the full project. Just a reminder that the Authenticity score measures how far students deviated from the AI and Pasted content thresholds defined by the instructor for the activity.

Please note the due date for the Creation Stage.

As you work on the assignment, please feel free to use the AI Assistant to help you if you have any questions. The AI Assistant has full context of the assignment instructions, project files, and any of the code that you have written so far.

Step 6: Run the output. Run the tests. Submit your assignment.

Please click the “Submission” tab to run the output of your code, run the tests (if provided by your instructor) and submit the assignment. Once submitted, your assignment will be synced back to the Kritik Coding Authorship Tracking Activity.
