Understanding Live Presentation Activities
Live Presentation Activities consist of four key stages:
Create Stage – The activity becomes available for students to view instructions and submit attachments (if enabled by the instructor).
Present and Evaluate Stage – Students present their work live to the class while peers evaluate their performance in real-time.
Feedback Stage – Students review and provide feedback on the quality of evaluations given by their peers.
Grading Stage – Instructors review activity scores and resolve any disputes or issues. Your role may change depending on the activity setup by your instructor. Some students may present while others evaluate, and everyone participates in the feedback stage.
The Create Stage
What is the Create Stage?
The Create Stage is where you can view the instructions, and submit your presentation materials (if required) before your live session. If you are not assigned to present, this stage will be greyed out, and you can check the schedule for when evaluations start. The necessity of this stage depends on the settings determined by your instructor.
How to Complete the Create Stage
Review the activity description and rubric provided by your instructor. Organize your content and practice delivery if needed.
If file submission is required, you must upload your presentation before proceeding. Click on “Attach a File” and upload supporting materials (max file size: 200 MB).
Note: The requirement for file submission is based on instructor settings. If submission is required, failure to upload may affect participation.
If file submission is optional, you may choose to attach additional materials (e.g., slides, visuals) to support your evaluation, but you will still be able to proceed even if you do not submit anything.
Present and Evaluate Stage
What is the Present and Evaluate Stage?
Presenting and evaluating take place at the same time, as students evaluate their peers' live presentations. Presentations are expected to conclude when the class ends, but the evaluation submission deadline is set separately.
Key Dates:
Presentation Date/Evaluation Start Date – The day presentations begin, and evaluations start.
Evaluation Due Date – The deadline for all evaluations, regardless of how many presentations occur on the day.
Steps to Participate:
Join the Live Presentation Session – Log in to Kritik and access the scheduled presentation activity.
Present Your Work (If Assigned) – Deliver your presentation live, following the time limit and instructions.
Evaluate Peers in Real-Time: You'll be evaluating your peers in two ways:
Score your peers based on a rubric given in the activity
Give a written evaluation.
Note: Some activities may assign specific students or groups to present while others evaluate.
The Feedback Stage
What is the Feedback Stage?
During this stage, students are giving feedback on other evaluations that their peers provided to presenters as an opportunity to help their peers improve as evaluators and offer constructive feedback.
Note: The feedback stage in a presentation activity works differently than the feedback stage in any other type of Kritik activity.
Steps to Participate:
Review your peers’ written evaluations of the presentations. To review each assigned written feedback you’ll have to complete, click through the feedback tabs.
Use the sliding scale to determine how motivational (ranging from Discouraging to Very Motivational) and critical (ranging from Ineffective to Great Critique) your peer’s written evaluation was for the presentation they evaluated.
Provide a minimum 20 character count feedback comment in the textbox below.
Select ‘Save & Submit’
Note: Once you have pressed Save & Submit on your feedback and select ‘View Grade’, you cannot edit your feedback.
The Grading Stage
What is the Grading Stage?
Instructors review all scores, evaluations, and feedback before finalizing grades.
If you have any concerns about your evaluation scores or feedback, this is the time to communicate with your instructor.
Steps to Participate:
Review Your Final Scores – Check your grade once it is available in Kritik.
Resolve Any Issues – If you believe there is an issue with your creation score, this is the time to dispute or contact your instructor.
Complete Any Additional Tasks – If your instructor requires further actions, ensure they are completed within the given timeframe.
By following these steps, you can effectively participate in Live Presentation Activities, ensuring a smooth experience from start to finish.
