Removing an Evaluation

What happens when an evaluation is removed?

When an evaluation is removed from an activity, not only will it be hidden from students but the evaluator will also receive a score of 0 for the written evaluation. This will result in a score adjustment for both the creator and evaluator.

How can I remove an evaluation?

Removing an evaluation that was reported as inappropriate by the creator:

  1. Mark it as inappropriate to resolve the issue.

  2. A modal will appear to resolve the issue and explain the impact on grading after removal.

  3. You can enter a reason to explain to the evaluator why the evaluation is inappropriate.

  4. Click on "Yes, Remove" to confirm the action.

The evaluation will be marked as removed and will be hidden from students. The evaluator will receive an email about the removal, along with the reason (if entered).

Removing any submitted evaluation:

You also have the ability to remove any evaluation that you may think is inappropriate by using the action "Remove Evaluation" at the bottom of the evaluation content. The workflow is the same as removing an evaluation reported as inappropriate.

Grading Impact

What happens when an evaluation is removed from the activity?

When an evaluation is removed:

  • The evaluator will receive a score of 0 and be notified about the removal.

  • The creation score for the creator will be auto-adjusted as if the evaluator never evaluated that creation. The creator will be notified about the score adjustment as well.

  • The creator would receive a feedback score of 100% relating to the removed evaluation.

  • When the activity transitions to complete, the grading power of the evaluator will be negatively impacted.

Reinstating an evaluation after removal

How to reinstate an evaluation if it was removed by accident or if you changed your mind?

If an evaluation is removed by accident or you changed your mind, you can include the evaluation again for the activity.

  • For a reported evaluation: Click on the “Change Resolution” dropdown and select “Mark as appropriate”

  • For a submitted evaluation: Click on the “Include Evaluation” button at the bottom of evaluation (next to Spotlight and Comment)

When the evaluation is included again, all changes to the grading will be reverted.

Here is an example of the email evaluators will receive after removal:

The following displays the notification that the creator will see in Kritik during this process:

Limitations

  • Instructors are unable to remove missed evaluations.

  • Instructors can only access the Remove Evaluation action in the student details view of an activity, under the Evaluations Received section (Creation tab).
