Creating Your First Activity

Instructors can now create their first activity in a new course from existing content, from scratch, or with AI.

Create an Activity from Existing Content, from Scratch, or with AI

When an instructor creates a new course and navigates to the Activities sidebar, the following three options will appear:

Creating an Activity from Existing Content

Existing content includes activities created in past courses or activities created outside of Kritik that can be imported.

Steps to Create from Existing Content

  1. Navigate to the Activities sidebar in the course.

  2. Click "Create from existing content."

  3. You may upload assignment(s) created outside of Kritik or import content from a previous course.

Note: After creating or importing an activity (or activities) you must still set a schedule. Instructions detailing how to do so are listed at the end of this article.

When uploading multiple assignment files, you have two options.

Option 1: Create a Single Activity

  • Selecting "Create a Single Activity" creates one activity using all uploaded files.

Option 2: Create Activities

  • Selecting "Create Activities" creates a single activity per uploaded file.

    • Note: Create Activities is selected by default.

Creating an Activity from Scratch

If creating an activity from scratch, you will have two options.

Option 1: Create Manually

Option 2: Create with the help of AI

  • You may either upload the course syllabus or have our AI create activities based on the course name.

  • Select an Activity Type. The selected type will be highlighted in pink.

  • If you are happy with a generated activity, you may click "Create This Activity" or click "Load More Examples" at the bottom of the page.

Note: Once the activity is created, you must still set a schedule for the activity. Please follow the instructions at the end of this article under Steps to Set an Activity's Schedule.

Creating an Activity with AI

If creating an activity using AI, you will type a brief description of the activity you'd like created and upload the syllabus or other course materials before clicking "Create Activity."

Note: Once the activity is created, you must still set a schedule for the activity. Please follow the instructions listed below detailing how to do so.

Steps to Set an Activity's Schedule

  1. Navigate to the Activities sidebar.

  2. Click on the activity you need to set a schedule for.

  3. Click the Schedule Activity button.

  4. Enter the activity's due date and time, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Schedule Activity.
