How to Grant Individual Late Accommodations for Writing Authorship Activities

Steps

  1. Login to the course.

  2. Click into the desired activity.

  3. Find the student(s) who require a late accommodation by using the search bar.

  4. Click Grant under the Late Accommodation bar.

  5. Enter the date and time for the student's late submission due date.

  6. Click Grant Accommodation.

After clicking Grant, you may enter the student's extended due date.

After clicking Grant Accommodation, you will see the student's extended due date in pink. This indicates your late accommodation was successful and the student can submit their creation late until their extended due date.

Note: You can remove the late accommodation at any time by clicking the area highlighted in the image above and selecting Remove.

Note: A late accommodation extends this student's creation deadline only. The activity's stages still advance on schedule for the whole class, and the student is not marked as missed while the accommodation is active. Marking the activity as complete ends the accommodation.

Late Accommodations for Writing Authorship Activities with Peer Assessment

If the Writing Authorship activity has Peer Assessment, there is an Evaluation and Feedback stage following the Create stage. Learn more about how late accommodations work with these additional stages.

Steps: Follow the same steps listed above to grant students a late accommodation.

How do Late Accommodations work for Writing Authorship Activities with Peer Assessment?

Students granted late accommodations will be able to complete the Evaluate stage once they submit their creation.

When the activity transitions to the next stage from Create to Evaluate, students who submitted late under an active accommodation are flagged accordingly (e.g., "Late" or "Overdue"), while those without extensions who missed the deadline are marked as "Missed."
