Setting up Authorship Tracking within Kritik

Learn how to enable Authorship Tracking within Kritik with VisibleAI.

Written by Support Team

VisibleAI promotes AI Transparency and AI Literacy, helping students and instructors build trust by showing exactly how AI was used in the composition of an assignment. With the VisibleAI, Authorship Tracking enables instructors to have full visibility into student submissions preventing false plagiarism accusations or inappropriate AI use.

To enable Authorship Tracking, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your course, and click "Activities", which can be found on the left taskbar

  2. If you already have an activity created, click "Edit Activity". If you are creating an activity from scratch, go through the activity creation process

  3. Once you get to the "Activity Details" section, scroll down to "Add Authorship Tracking" and turn it on

  4. Set your thresholds. You are able to choose if you'd like to allow students to insert AI-Generated text or pasted content from outside sources. You can also set a maximum AI Content and Pasted Content %

  5. Set your Authorship Options.

VisibleAI offers an AI Assistant which allows students to interact with different LLMs. Students can ask questions or make queries during their Create stage, and then insert the AI-generated responses directly into their assignment.

    • The Guiding AI Assistant helps students understand concepts by explaining ideas and asking questions

    • The Standard AI Assistant uses the course and assignment name for context and responds to prompts in default behaviour.

  6. Set up your Self Reflection question. You can choose to have your students submit a short open ended self-reflection exercise on their use of AI when they submit the assignment, and it is always due 3 hours after the assignment is due.

  7. Set up your Editor Content. This will be visible for your students when they open the VisibleAI editor within Kritik. You can use this to provide your students with starter content, instructions, or a template to follow.

  8. Hit Save and Continue, and your Authorship Tracking is now enabled!
